So you have your new web site up on the internet ready for the masses to come beating down your door to buy your product. But wait, as you check your site statistics, you see that you “may” have a few hits. Days go by and if you are lucky, your hit count has increased to a whole whopping 50 hits. You’ve told all your friends and family, maybe some people you work with - that’s where your traffic has come from so far. “What’s going on?” you ask yourself. “This is a great product. Why won’t people come to my web site?”
Does this sound familiar? Everybody new to internet marketing has been through this scenario. How do you drive traffic to your web site?
AdvertisingI will be writing a series of articles about advertising. Because of the wide variety of different ways to advertise on the internet, I felt it best to write a series of articles instead of trying to include everything in one. This will allow me to provide more details in each article and still keep the articles somewhat short and to the point. This first article (the one you are reading right now) is just an introduction and provides a list of advertising sites for you to explore so you do not have to wait for the future articles to get started.
NOTE: Please keep in mind that I do not claim to be an expert in the internet advertising market. These articles will be based on my personal experience and will include everything I have used or tried so far in my internet business endeavors. These articles will not cover everything available and will concentrate on free and very low cost advertising programs available to everyone on the internet. I am not making any claims as to the success you will or will not have with any of the content in these articles.
What different types of advertising are available on the internet? Here’s a list of most of the types of advertising you will run across:
- Email lists (Please do not SPAM - you could get into a lot of trouble)
- Text Ads
- Traffic Links
- Banners (Including Button Banners)
- Pop-ups, Slide-ups, Drop-downs, etc...
- Navigation Links
- Log-in Ads
- PTC (Paid to Click) Ads
- PTS (Paid to Surf) Ads
- Link Exchange or Text Ad Exchange
- Just to name a few...I’m sure there’s more out there
Now, you might be asking “What type should I use?” I do not think that there is really a right or wrong answer for that question. What ad type will catch the attention of one person, will not necessarily catch another persons’ attention. I have found it best to use a variety of ad types for each ad campaign. You will have to experiment and test different ad types for your specific situation.
So now that I have you thinking about ad types, here is a list of a few free to join and use advertising sites.
